conflicts
In Punjab India, a source of conflict is between the Hindus and the Sikhs. Sikhs are the dominating religion in the area and tend to be of a higher class with more money. The reason they have conflict is because Sikhs are the rich farmers, and the Hindus control the market place. Hindus tend to give poor prices for the products produced by the Sikhs, causing economic distress between the two groups. A social issue is that since Sikhs are becoming the more dominant religion in the area, they are requesting greater radio time for Sikh stations, and they want a legislative act to allow more public shrines for Sikhism. A political issue they are facing is that they want to break off from the state of Punjab and from their own independent state for the Sikhs so they are separated from the Hindus.
